Professional Hockey Player

Contrary to popular belief, I have attained many valuable skills applicable to the work force in my time as a professional hockey player. Community service was a huge part of my life as an athlete. I spent a lot of time working with children both mentoring them one on one and speaking to a crowd of students. Other events I attended as a professional hockey player include coaching minor hockey teams, teaching hockey camps, skating with kids, going into hospitals to see the sickly, motivational speaker at banquets, speak to kids on drugs, alcohol, academics and life, work for charity group, and get involved in schools.

In addition to the above skills I have attained during my time as an athlete, I have learned so much from the game itself. Playing minor league professional hockey required extreme desire and hard work on and off the ice. I participated in off- ice and on-ice workouts on a daily base. For me to be successful I had to use strength, speed, skill, smarts, co-ordination, and hand eye co-ordination while competing on the ice. Many of these skills are transferable into the business world mainly my leadership roles as captain of my team and the ability to work within a group to reach a common goal.
